What this means for your skin

In simple words: BrightShield was applied to real people's skin in a controlled study, and a dermatologist checked how the skin reacted. The product was rated non-irritant.

IS 4011 is the Bureau of Indian Standards method for checking whether a cosmetic is safe on skin. In this kind of test, the product is usually applied to volunteers' skin under a patch and the skin is checked afterwards for signs of irritation, such as redness or swelling. The results are scored, and a product that stays below the standard's limit is classed as non-irritant.

What this test does and doesn't cover

  • It does show that BrightShield was tested for skin safety on human volunteers and was found non-irritant.
  • It does not measure how much the product brightens skin or fades dark spots. That depends on daily use, your skin and consistent sun protection.
  • Everyone's skin is different. If you have very sensitive skin or a skin condition, we still suggest a patch test on your jaw for a few days before using it all over.
